First day of School 2014!

School started August 13th, 2014. That was 16 days ago and life has sure changed around here. It's taking a little while to get back in the swing of things, but we'll make it. Thank goodness for Labor Day, I think we all need it.

Here are the boys on their first day!

Waiting in line in the gym

I'm already proud of my boys and all of their hard work. Check out these videos of Alex doing his math homework. I love hearing him think!

This year will be different for me too, as I've taken on a few more piano students than last year, and I've been hired on by the Widefield School district as an accompanist. Right now it's just a once a week gig but it could open the door to more in the future! Having the boys gone all day sure allows me to get a lot done so I can focus on them once they get home, including exercise! Yay!

Beach Family Visit!

I mentioned at the end of my last post that we would wrap up our Summer fun with a visit from Dan's great friend Dave Beach and his family. We had a blast and got to see A LOT of Colorado. She's such a beauty. Most of these pictures were taken by Abby, Dave's wife, who takes awesome pictures!

On the first day we went to Helen Hunt Falls.

Adding a pin to where he was born, Idaho!
The next day was Garden of the Gods

Can you spot the boys?

Here are some pictures of the kids playing around the house

Pikes Peak from our backyard

Hot air balloons often fly over our neighborhood

Then we went to the Denver Museum of Science and Nature!

I think Dan had as much fun as the kids in the new Discovery Zone at the science museum!

Abby and I had fun making origami with Tom. He was old and all tattooed and funny and loved volunteering at the museum. I wanted to know his life story!

Keva blocks are pretty cool! And pretty expensive!

Denver Skyline from the museum grounds. Hi mom and Kevin!

Then it was time to venture up Pikes Peak! Dave and Abby took all the kids and pup in the car, and Dan and I rode his motorcycle up! It was so much fun, even though it snowed.

I took a few photos with my phone while he was driving up the mountain

A pic of me off of Dan's helmet

We made and ate a lot of awesome Korean food!

Last but not least we went to the America the Beautiful park and toured the Air Force Academy Chapel!

Dan trespassed to get the picture below, this is Abby's proof of Dan being up there! But it's one impressive organ.

I love the mountains through the windows

We finished out the fun with a good ol' fashioned BBQ and s'mores with the Beaches, Bennetts and McBrides!

Goodbye summer 2014! You went too fast, but left us with some great memories!
