Fall of '24 for Alex!

This cinnamon roll cheesecake was SOOOOOOO good!

I'm feeling like a really terrible mother in just how BEHIND I am on the blog. The person who is feeling it the most is Alex! He was up to some awesome things in the Fall and I just didn't get around to blogging, and since I don't post much on Facebook anymore he wasn't feeling the love. Sorry!

Alex is a Junior in high school this year, and has filled his schedule with many musical things and a new job! He also is a Running Start student which means he is doing the dual credit program with the local community college, SPSCC.

He started off the year with another frustrating start to Marching Band. Our city had a double levy failure which meant the schools activities were directly affected. The director wasn't guaranteed his stipend so he postponed marching band camp until more could be figured out. Despite that setback Alex, Spencer and Ryan (the 3 drum majors) put together a small camp anyways!

The community fund raised enough for the band to have a regular season and only missed one game due to the levy. I think that's when the community was like, hey, it's not the same without the band!

Treats for the game!

Leading the band!

And playing too!

There are many facets to this school and its band program, and I know there were times that this was a frustrating experience for Alex. I was proud of him for always keeping the students in mind every time they were faced with an obstacle. I know through everything Alex just wanted the other students to have a good experience and and a good time!

Alex is also a part of the Chamber Choir this year, and that provides a very enriching experience for the kids involved. The Chamber Choir is prepping to head to NYC in May to sing along some professional and student choirs in a premiere performance in Carnegie Hall. I love going to their choir concerts!

Getting to play in the same group as his dad! A rare treat!

Alex also plays horn in SOGO and the SPSCC orchestra, which of course I'm a part of too. I love having all these experiences to make music together with my kids!

Alex also started working at Farelli's a local sit-down pizzeria. He has enjoyed having a pretty steady paycheck and seeing the fruits of his labor. He's had great performance reviews and moved up from dishwasher to salads and apps and even throwing dough! Love watching him progress!

And of course there's down time too! Here's a few pics of a weekend we went to a Halloween craft market in Tacoma. We came home with a carnivorous plant!

I really, from the bottom of my heart and with all the feels am proud of Alex. He's had a tough road and his heart is golden. He wants the best for everyone, sometimes at the expense of himself. He's witty, creative, a delicious cook and a hard working kid. Love you bud!
